Ray Wong Toi-yeung

Ray Wong Toi-yeung is a Hong Kong activist and the first from the city to be granted political asylum by a European country. In 2015, he founded the activist group Hong Kong Indigenous, whose slogan “Liberate Hong Kong, Revolution of Our Times” became a defining call of the 2019 Anti-Extradition Law Movement. He currently serves as Chair of the German NGO Freiheit für Hongkong e.V., which conducts research and advocacy on human rights in Hong Kong and on China’s expanding illiberal influence in Europe. He also chairs the Advocacy Committee of the European Hong Kong Diaspora Alliance. Wong holds a degree in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of Göttingen
