Kosar Eftekhari

Kosar Eftekhari is an Iranian women’s rights activist, feminist, and advocate for freedom, democracy, and human rights. Born in Tabriz, Iran, she joined the Woman, Life, Freedom movement following the death of Mahsa Jina Amini in September 2022.

On October 12, 2022, during protests in Tehran, she was shot in her right eye by Iranian security forces, resulting in permanent blindness in that eye. Her experience stands as a testament to the brutal repression of protesters and the courage of women who continue to resist oppression.

Following her injury, she faced judicial persecution by the Islamic Republic and was sentenced to prison. Despite the physical and psychological consequences of state violence, she continues to raise her voice internationally for justice, accountability, and the rights of the Iranian people.

Through her participation in international conferences, human rights events, and cultural platforms, she strives to bring the voices of victims and survivors of the Islamic Republic’s repression to the international community.

She believes that women’s freedom is inseparable from democracy, and that no society can achieve genuine freedom while women are denied their fundamental rights.

She is part of the ongoing struggle for a free and democratic Iran.
